Do You Still Remember This Special Nike Pack?
The story behind the 2008 'Greatest Hits'
In the summer of 2008, Nike came up with the 'Greatest Hits' pack which put an interesting twist on several well beloved Swoosh silhouettes by applying popular colorways from other models to them. The three shoes were hit up with a special nickname stitched on the heel section – and one of these monikers even caused a model to be pulled from the shelves. Another standout characteristic on all of the shoes is a comic graphic under the see-through outsole. Read on and find out more about Nike's 'Greatest Hits' from 2008.
Nike Air Stab Premium 'Runnin & Gunnin' Due to its name, the Air Stab already had a rather risky stand and was even pulled Nike Town in central London, the only shop in the country which sold the shoe. This happened to reject the idea that the company was 'condoning or encouraging knife usage' – an issue pretty serious in parts of the United Kingdom at that time. All this controversy took attention away from the shoe itself, which used a black elephant print, combined with bright pink accents and a 'Hot Lava'-like speckled heel.
Nike Air Max 90 Premium QK Mowabb 'King Of The Mountain' The whole design on this AM 90 was a nod to the ACG aesthetic most prominently featured on the Air Mowabb. The color scheme of the Nike Air Mowabb OG works perfectly on an Air Max – even though it is placed on slightly different materials. A fish scale side mudguard and micro-perforated toebox rightfully put the premium stamp on this pair.
Nike Air Max 1 Supreme QK 'Keep Rippin Stop Slippin' The final installment of this series picked up the beloved Safari theme which was also used on several store collabs Nike did around that time – and dates back to 1987's Air Safari. The animalistic theme is enforced by pony hair side panels and a lion print on the outsoles.
